Recently, WSJ wrote about how Kellogg's Cereal is getting Tony the Tiger due to a lawsuit mandate over child obesity unless Kellogg's meets a sugar and calorie benchmark.
It's great they companies are changing there marketing to help discourage child obesity, however, the companies shouldn't be forced. The market will and has encouraged them to do this so the idea of a lawsuit is simply a lawyer looking for money.

Cereal is the healthiest food a child eats all day. I bet there's more vitamins and minerals in that meal than all the rest. Should they eat a bunch of greasy bacon instead?

Research tells us:

Eating breakfast may affect body weight in several ways. For instance, eating breakfast tends to cut back impulsive snacking. Research has shown that calorie intakes tend to be higher on days when people skip breakfast. And, cereal eaters eat less fat at breakfast as well as for the whole day. Finally, cereal is a major source of whole grain, and whole grain intake has been associated with a healthier body weight.
